Looking for a Chubby Hubby?

Today I took all of the kids to do the grocery shopping and while shopping in the ice cream aisle Kate was reading all kinds of flavors to Ella. As I picked up what I wanted I heard Ella say, "I want a Chubby Hubby." "Yea, me too," said Kate. There were 3 older ladies around us who snickered upon hearing that. I said, "You do? I'm sure some day you'll have a chubby hubby." Then I realized that it was a Ben & Jerry's flavor. We continue walking and this was the conversation that ensued. I asked them if they knew what a hubby was. They didn't, so I explained that Daddy is my husband or hubby. Then I asked if they knew what chubby was. I think they do, but they said no. So Drew imparted his 9 year old wisdom and said, "I'm not chubby because I'm skinny, but chubby is like, uh, (short pause) Mom." What? How could he say that--okay the truth hurts! But my ever adoring Kate spoke right up for me, "Mom is not chubby, she's skinny too." Maybe a slight exaggeration on her part, but I'll take it! So we tried to think of someone who is chubby and after much deliberation, they decided that Daddy is chubby. I told them that I love taking them shopping because it is so fun to have conversations like that with them. Really, would you get a conversation like that at home?
